Heavy forest fire near buildings in Fredrikstad – NRK Oslo and Viken – Local news, TV and radio

– The task leader on site reports that they are beginning to gain control. There was a period when we considered sending a helicopter, but we are waiting for that. Now they are in a kind of post-extinguishing phase, says Kristian Falck, operator in Øst 110-central.

Both the police and the fire brigade moved out to Rolvsøy in Fredrikstad after reports of a forest fire.

The area that was on fire was 700 meters long and 300 wide, and is located just north of Borredalsvannet. It is a popular outdoor area with light trails.

– It burns fresh in the forest. We are there with resources and call in more. We do not have an overview of how much is burning, said duty officer at the fire service, Bård Fredriksen, to NRK just before 14.00.

A helicopter was called in to assist with the firefighting work.

– It is such a large area that we want a helicopter, so it burns quite heavily on the spot. There is no danger of it spreading to homes or infrastructure. There are only forests and bogs there, says Fredriksen.

Very dry: – People must pay attention!

It is very dry in the forest in Eastern Norway and orange forest fire warning. The fire service feared for a long time that the fire in Fredrikstad would escalate.

Monday burned over 100 meters of forest down by Kornsjø south of Halden.

– One always fears the worst, as in Halden yesterday, but we hope to prevent the fire before it escalates, says Fredriksen.

Police are also on the scene. They ask people to pay attention.

– We are on site with two patrols. There is currently no danger of spreading to buildings. It’s terribly dry now, so people have to pay attention, says police operations manager Finn Håvard Aas.
