Heatwave: eight departments of Nouvelle-Aquitaine still vigilant, thunderstorms starting this Monday – CAMEROON MAGAZINE – CAMEROUN INFO

From this Monday, thunderstorms are expected over much of France. Despite this, the heat will continue at least until Tuesday. Before another stormy degradation which should refresh the atmosphere a little more on Wednesday.

After the heat wave usually comes the storm. It should be heard from this Monday over a large part of France. Despite this, the heat wave that has raged since the end of last week is expected to last at least until Tuesday.

Red vigilance is maintained in 15 departments in northern France while 54 others are still in orange vigilance, including eight in New Aquitaine: Lot-et-Garonne, Dordogne, Charente, Deux-Sèvres, Vienne , Haute-Vienne, Creuse and Corrèze.

The few thunderstorms that broke in the night from Sunday to Monday were not enough to refresh the atmosphere. In many cases, temperatures have remained high, often in the range of 20–23 ° C, sometimes even 24–25 ° C. New thunderstorms are expected this Monday across France, but they should not overcome the heat wave that has raged since last Friday.

In the South-West, in an area encompassing a large part of New Aquitaine, Occitanie and a part of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, “stormy foci will multiply at the end of the afternoon and in early evening ”, according to the French Observatory of Tornadoes and Severe Thunderstorms Kearaunos.

It will be necessary to wait until the middle of the week for a “broad and frank stormy degradation” to put an end to this “lasting heat wave”, which should be among the five most severe heat waves known by France, while remaining behind the historic heatwaves of 2003 and 2006, according to Météo France.

On Wednesday, these new storms will mainly affect the west and north of France. “During the afternoon and evening, sometimes virulent thunderstorms will be possible, especially on the outskirts of New Aquitaine as well as the Center at the northern borders”, predicts Keraunos. This time, maximum temperatures are expected to drop to just below 30 ° C almost everywhere in the region. They should then remain roughly in line with seasonal norms until the weekend.
