Heat and color of Brazil

The Asturian quintet “Bombara!” yesterday flooded the Philharmonic with the color and warmth of Brazilian music in the second concert of the Vetusta & Jazz festival organized by the Municipal Culture Foundation. Helios Amor, a bossanova lover, presented, together with his group of musicians seasoned in the Gijon jazz scene, a repertoire of Brazilian versions of all time: Chico Buarque, Tom Jobim, Edu Lobo, Elis Regina, Joao Bosco… Those musicians were the ones who sounded, among others, in the voice of Helios, accompanied on piano by Cristina Montull, Horacio García on double bass, percussion and drums Manu Molina and Carlos Pizarro on guitar. The closeness of Helios Amor and his sympathy full of anecdotes about a music that he defined as a minority encouraged the public to chant already in the final stretch. It was with “Aquelas coisas todos”, by Toninho Horta, the tune of the Radio 3 program “When the elephants dream of music”, which he also claimed as an essential of Brazilian rhythms and jazz.

The next appointment and closing of the Oviedo jazz festival will be next Tuesday, precisely, with the legendary Brazilian guitarist Toquinho, who will be accompanied by Javier Colina (double bass) and Marcio Dhiniz (drums) and with the voice of Camilla Faustino.
