Health: the private sector in the street in Albi

At the Claude-Bernard clinic, the strike is not really part of the local culture. Yet yesterday, they were a few dozen to disengage then to go to demonstrate in front of the prefecture, at the call of the South unions, FO and CGT. “If we have the right to work, we have the right to strike,” they reply to those who point out to them that they are forming a crowd in full confinement.

Like their other colleagues in the private sector participating in the movement (Bon Sauveur, UAD de Castres, EHPAD de Lagrave, etc.), Claude-Bernard’s staff consider that they have been forgotten by Ségur de la santé. “The public got 183 € increase instead of the 400 requested and we 160 €. We are tired of being forgotten and being under the side”, underlines Ingrid Albert, the South delegate to Claude-Bernard. And yet, as the staff reminds us, they have the same diplomas as their colleagues in the public, but not the same salary. They are therefore demanding a € 300 increase for the public and the private sector.

Sud also denounces in passing the salary practices of the Elsan group, which manages the clinic. “We are asked to work overtime with the chef’s hat. They are constantly looking for people to do the nights,” explains Ingrid. But paid 30 to 35 € more, it does not jostle at the gate! However, be careful, Ingrid recalls: “we do not want to be paid with the money of the public but with the wheat of the private”.

Staff require a minimum of recognition through their salary. If only to keep the health sector attractive. Especially at the moment. Many staff are asking questions after the covid health crisis. “For the moment, there are few departures. You feel invested with a mission. Now is not the time to leave the ship”. But, all the unions say, we are witnessing an explosion of social risks.
