Health presents tool to visualize coronavirus data in Puerto Rico

The secretary of the Health Department, Lorenzo González Feliciano, today presented the new Internet information portal that records the official figures and behavior of the coronavirus on the island and will be updated every 24 hours, a mechanism with which they hope to expand access to more detailed information on the behavior of COVID-19 on the island.

You can access the data visualization tool HERE.

This morning, González Feliciano had assured that the platform would be available today at 3:00 p.m. Since March 26, the government had reported that they were working to publish all the information about COVID-19, as it emerged.

“The integration of this dashboard represents an advance in the transition process in the methodology of documentation, validation and reporting of the results of the COVID-19 tests in Puerto Rico and its impact on our health system“The official explained in a press release.

He explained that the new system will include variables ranging from the enumeration of tests with positive results to COVID-19 on the island to the total number of beds available through all hospitals in Puerto Rico (intensive, pediatric, isolation, among others). Too Total number of ventilators in use, patient censuses and deaths due to the disease, among other variables, will be reported. The information provided will include details on the demography and the municipalities to which each one of the cases registered with positive results for the coronavirus belongs.

González Feliciano said that he is meeting virtually with municipal executives to explain how the platform works and clarify doubts.

He indicated that the platform will be modified, according to the dynamics and information needs regarding the virus. This is part of the public health emergency preparedness projects, as part of the cooperative agreements that the state agency maintains with the Federal Department of Health, specifically the CDC.

It can be accessed directly through the following address https://statuscovid19.pr.gov or through the website of the Department of Health www.salud.pr.gov/coronavirus.
