Offenbach (dpa / lhe) – According to the Hessian Pharmacists’ Association, the children’s vaccine against Covid-19 is expected by Wednesday. The Ministry of Social Affairs had previously announced that more than 180,000 doses of the Biontech / Pfizer vaccine had been ordered by pediatric practices, clinics and health authorities in Hesse. What proportion of it will be distributed via the Hessian pharmacies has not yet been determined, the association announced on Monday upon request.
According to the association, the first order of the vaccine from the practices was possible until December 7th, the next date would be January 4th. The cans then ordered should arrive in practices, clinics and public vaccination centers from January 10th. The information that the vaccine can be ordered came at very short notice, the association said. He assumes that many parents have a great need for advice when considering whether to have their children vaccinated.
For five to eleven year olds, a lower-dose and differently bottled preparation is used compared to the conventional Biontech / Pfizer vaccine. According to Stiko, two doses of the mRNA vaccine should be given at intervals of three to six weeks. There is still no approved vaccine for younger children.
