Health launches campaign against influenza and applies first vaccine to Mario Abdo

The Ministry of Health officially launched the vaccination campaign that includes the simultaneous application of vaccines against Covid-19the influenza and the pneumococcus. Immunization at the country level is available from this Monday.

In this regard, the director of the Expanded Program on Immunizations (PAI), Héctor Castro, reiterated the importance of the third dose against Covid-19, which made it possible to mitigate the impact of the omicron variant of Covid-19.

“These three vaccines are a way to prepare for the entry of respiratory viruses that can damage health and cause hospitalizations,” he said while noting that, for the first time, these biologicals have been available since March.

The first to receive the influenza vaccine was the President of the Republic, Mario Abdo Benítez.

“We know that through the gesture of the president, who begins this vaccination campaign, the entire population will begin to take care of their health again so that social, economic and educational activities are not interrupted again,” Castro said.

According to him Ministry of Healthall the vaccines can be applied simultaneously, in addition to being safe and effective against the diseases typical of the winter season.

A large number of vaccination posts are available, both in Asunción and in other departments, where family health units and regional hospitals have been set up.

In Asunción, the Costanera vaccination post works until 10:00 p.m. for the car vaccination modality. Also the National Sports Secretariat, the Military Hospital and several other hospitals.
