Text messages, emails, health insurance calls … fraudulent procedures have been on the rise for several weeks. But how do you know if it is really the official organization or if it is a scam? On its website, theHealth insurance wants to help you see things more clearly.

First, it reminds you that in no case should you respond to the requests made by these messages. “Such communications via SMS, phone calls or email usurp the name and logo of the Health Insurance to retrieve personal data or to call premium rate numbers”explains.

On the phone, be careful. If you notice a few seconds of waiting between the moment you answer and the moment your interlocutor speaks, this is the first indication of a relationship with a fraudulent calling platform.

To gain the trust of the policyholder, the scammer claims to work for “Ameli”, “Health Insurance”, for the “FranceConnect digitalization service in relation to social security” or even “for the personal training account (CPF)” . It indicates that he wants to verify your Ameli, FranceConnect or CPF account and for this he needs your information to send you an email. At that moment he asks for the email, the social security number, the password of the Ameli account, etc. Information that must not be communicated by telephone.

Because thanks to this information, the scammer can access your Ameli account, “recover the data that interests him, or even modify personal elements, such as the email address or password of the account. The scammer can use the identifiers of the Ameli account also to access sites such as that of the personal training account thanks a FranceConnect authentication “health insurance details.

Beware of text messages and emails

Fraudulent procedures differ according to the channels used. The insured receives an offer of a paid online service for updating the vital card by e-mail. As a reminder, this update is “totally free and can be done in most pharmacies”ensures the organization.

Another means used by scammers: SMS. It is therefore most often a message indicating the delivery of a new vital card or a reimbursement by the Health Insurance pending, with a clickable link.

Health insurance indicates good practices to be put in place to protect yourself from these frauds. To perform a procedure or find information, be sure to visit the official sites: ameli.fr, service-public.fr or the government sites whose address ends in “.gouv.fr”.

Before opening an email, check the sender. “When health insurance sends an email to an insured person’s personal mailbox, the sender is” Your health insurance. “If health insurance sends an information message or newsletter, the email addresses visible behind the sender name are [email protected] .fr or [email protected], details the site. Be careful as scammers can use very similar email addresses with only a few different letters or characters.

The Health Insurance, in its recommendations, also reminds that it never asks for the validation of the reimbursement, never presents itself as customer service and never asks for the password of the Ameli account.
“If a health insurance agent contacts an insured person, he will always be able to prove that he belongs to the health insurance by indicating precise, numerous and correct information on the insured person’s file”concludes the organization.
