Health hazard: fish product is recalled due to foreign bodies
As the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) reports, a recall for “Neubauer’s Original Braunschweig Herring Salad” was started due to a possible health risk. The fish product could contain metallic foreign bodies.
According to the BVL, the product “Neubauer’s Original Braunschweiger Herring Salad” is packaged in a 200 g plastic cup with the lot identification (MHD): 20049 (APR 18, 2020), 20050 (APR 19, 2020), 20051 (APR 20. 2020) and 20052 (21 APR. 2020).
Metallic foreign bodies can become a health hazard
“It cannot be completely excluded that metallic foreign bodies are contained in the product. If accidentally swallowed, these foreign bodies can pose a health hazard, ”the BVL writes on its portal“ lebensmittelwarnung.de ”.
According to the information, the fish product was bottled and distributed by the Agency for Regional Delicatessen in Rötgesbüttel.
The Fleischerei Neubauer oHG in Braunschweig is specified as the manufacturer. Initially, the Fleischer-Dienst Braunschweig eG was incorrectly named as the manufacturer and distributor of the product warning for the Braunschweig herring salad, the company reports. This message has now been corrected.
Do not consume products
Unfortunately, there are always contaminations or foreign bodies such as glass, aluminum or plastic residues in food production.
Foreign bodies in food can cause various, sometimes dangerous injuries and complaints when consumed.
Depending on the size, nature and material of the swallowed part, chewing can occur in the mouth and throat, among other things. In addition, depending on the size, swallowed foreign bodies can block the esophagus or digestive organs.
If smaller parts remain in the body, they can sometimes cause inflammation. Internal injuries cannot be ruled out either.
