Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – How should the vaccinations against the coronavirus in Hesse’s largest city work? Frankfurt’s Lord Mayor Peter Feldmann (SPD) and Health Director Stefan Majer (Greens) want to inform today about the status of the preparations. In the vaccination center at the fair, work should begin as soon as the vaccine is approved and delivered. Head of the health department, René Gottschalk, is expected. In addition, representatives of the fair and the German Red Cross have announced their presence.

28 vaccination centers were built all over Hesse – in sports halls, hotels, exhibition halls, congress centers or even on an old airfield. The districts and independent cities are responsible for the establishment – local aid organizations such as the Technical Relief Agency or the Red Cross advise and support.

The vaccination is voluntary, there are no costs for the vaccinee. The goal is to vaccinate at least 60 percent of citizens against the coronavirus in the next few months.
