“Health” for “practitioners”: Refraining from presenting the insurance policy deprives you of the profession – Saudi News

The Ministry of Health revealed the start of applying mandatory cooperative insurance against medical professional errors for health practitioners, as of the next Shawwal. The Ministry indicated that the comprehensive specialties of compulsory insurance are: nursing, pharmacy, anesthesia, midwifery, laboratories, diagnostic radiology, diagnostic radiology technology, ambulance (emergency medical services), physiotherapy, speech and communication, respiratory therapy, nutrition (intravenous therapeutic nutrition), Cardiac Perfusion, Audiology, Orthopedics, Blood Draw, Optometry, and Operating Room Technician.

In an urgent circular, the Ministry of Health stressed that all departments concerned with the components of the directorate must ensure that health practitioners from the target groups undertake cooperative insurance against professional medical errors, as of the specified date.

The Ministry of Health also pointed out that all concerned departments must provide human resources with a mandatory insurance coverage document against medical errors from the aforementioned categories, and raise the names of those who do not provide a mandatory insurance coverage document for their employees.

The Ministry of Health directed the concerned departments not to enable the health practitioner from the aforementioned categories to continue their health profession in the event that the mandatory insurance coverage against professional medical errors was not provided as of the specified date.

The Ministry of Health called on all departments to ensure that their employees of health practitioners from the aforementioned categories are informed of the need for cooperative insurance against medical errors before the date specified for that.

The Council of Ministers, in its session chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz last spring, approved the implementation of the mandatory cooperative system, after reviewing the transaction received from the Royal Court No. Saudi No. 23289 dated 9/30/1443 AH, regarding the final report on the subject of applying cooperative insurance against medical professional errors on a mandatory basis to other categories of health practitioners.
