Dr. Sherif Hafez, Professor of Internal Medicine, Diabetes and Endocrinology, said that this drug is an important health breakthrough in the field of diabetes medicines in Egypt, as its availability to the foreign patient has helped reduce the number of tablets and medicines obtained by the same effect, which reduces the cost of treatment, And given the highest possible health efficiency, stressing that the Egyptian patient has been deprived of that important therapeutic experience for a period, and they are happy to put this drug on the local market.
Hafez added in the scientific conference to put the medicine in Egypt today, that this drug combines two highly effective substances for diabetics in one tablet, stressing his happiness that this medicine is made on the land of Egypt, and that its provision to the Egyptian patient should not be through just importing it from abroad.
He pointed out that the new drug is not a substitute for “insulin”, as it is used to control sugar for pre-insulin cases, as it is used with it in some cases, according to what the attending physician sees.
Dr. Fahmy Amara, Professor of Endocrinology and Diabetes at Alexandria Medicine, President of the Egyptian Society of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Arteriosclerosis, said that this drug is characterized by the presence of the substance “metformin”, which is the substance found in first-line drugs for the treatment of type II diabetes, and the second article is “ampagliflozin” And that studies and research that have been done on this substance indicate that it reduces sugar levels through the kidneys, and has no relation to “the pancreas” like any other, explaining that scientific experiments prove that this substance helps to control the level of sugar in the blood and helps to lose weight while protecting against heart disease And blood vessels.
He pointed out that there are approximately 9 million diabetics in Egypt, and that this drug benefits patients with type 2 diabetes.
And participated in the scientific conference to release the drug about 500 doctors from leading doctors specializing in the treatment of diabetes, who praised the new drug, stressing that it represents a breakthrough in the field of diabetes medicine treatments in Egypt.
Dr. Riyad Armanious, Vice President of the Chamber of Medicine Industry in the Federation of Egyptian Industries and the managing director of the national manufacturer of the drug, stressed that they are committed to offering treatments that benefit Egyptian patients from various treatments, especially medicines that were not offered in the local market before, in support of the company for the Egyptian state’s moves to raise the level the health.
Armanius added, during the conference that his company is intensifying its efforts in the field of scientific research, and providing everything new to diabetics and all patients, pointing out that during a period of only two months, the new treatment succeeded in “sugar tuning” for about 10 thousand patients, there were no solutions for them to “Tune in” in the last period, and every day there are dozens of new ones.
Armanius explained that the medicine is a diuretic, but in a way that is not harmful to the human body, as it works to lose weight, and not like other sugar drugs that lead to a significant increase in weight.
