The corona pandemic has left deep marks on public transport. In the past three months, transport companies and collective bargaining associations have lost almost two thirds of their sales. In particular, the sale of individual tickets fell almost completely at times, as it says in a message.
–
“The sale of single tickets is only 60 percent of the previous year,” says Bernard Guillelmon. «Demand in public transport will not recover this year. If at all until the end of 2021. » In public transport in Switzerland, a decrease in total revenues of 25 to 30 percent compared to 2019 is currently expected for 2020.

New GA monthly pass without half-fare card
And yet: Despite these prospects, the industry has decided not to raise prices in the coming year. As a result, the price level has remained stable on average for the past four years, and it has even been possible to reduce it in some cases thanks to savings tickets.
–
The main thing now is to win back customers after the Corona crisis. Therefore the range is expanded. There is now a monthly GA travelcard for which you do not need a Half-Fare travelcard.
–
All 25-year-olds receive a discount of CHF 500 on the GA travelcard. “This is to make the transition from the discounted GA Junior to the regular GA softer,” says Helmut Eichhorn. Children traveling alone will travel free of charge until their 6th birthday.
–
So far, they should only be able to use public transport free of charge when accompanied. The children’s day card up to the age of 16 for a maximum of CHF 19 per day. Again, no accompanying person needs to travel with you. “Want to simplify the range for young customers,” says Eichhorn.

Compensation for delays
But that’s not all: With the change of savings class, you can now switch to 1st class at a lower price. Groups of three or more people can now buy savings tickets online. So far, this was only possible with ten or more people.
–
Finally, travelers from 2021 will be compensated for their ticket for delays of 60 minutes or more. If you are more than an hour late, you will get 25 percent of the ticket price back. If you are more than two hours late, it is 50 percent. There is one small limitation: the ticket must cost at least CHF 20.

New dog pass
There are also changes in the transportation of dogs. The previous dog GA travelcard for CHF 805 will be replaced by the dog pass – and will only cost CHF 350. The dog is now registered on the owner. The price of a dog day ticket is reduced by CHF 10.
