The Health Department this Saturday the death toll rose to 83 and to 1,307 the unique positive cases due to COVID-19 In Puerto Rico.

The update represents seven new deaths and 31 unique positive cases, compared to the figures provided yesterday.

Of the fatalities, only one patient received positive results for the disease, while the remaining six were added through the demographic registry.

The confirmed patient was a 56-year-old man from the Bayamón region.

The six deaths added by the Demographic Registry, because their clinical pictures were compatible with COVID-19, are from two women, 65 and 95 years old, and two men, 75 and 86 years old, all from the metropolitan region; a 71-year-old woman from the Bayamón region; and another 78-year-old woman from the Ponce region.

The agency has not yet released a list of patients recovered from the disease.

Meanwhile, of the 31 unique positive cases reported this morning, 24 were obtained through serological tests and seven through molecular tests.

Salud reported that it eliminated one death from the number it had previously reported after matching the Demographic Register. The reason, he explained, was that the patient’s case, which corresponds to a 90-year-old man, did not meet the COVID-19 criteria.

“This is part of the review analyzes that are done constantly, as part of the validation of information,” the agency stated in written statements.

Of the total of unique cases, 654 correspond to women and 653 to men according to the Health press release.

The age range between 50 to 59 years continues as the one with the highest incidence of cases with 274 confirmed, followed by the range between 40 and 49 years with 238 and 30 to 39 years with 207.

Health statistics show that 74 of the 78 municipalities already have at least one positive case of COVID-19.

However, the agency noted that it does not have residence information for 101 people. Under the line of residence of the infected people, the agency also considers New York with four cases and New Jersey with one.

At the regional level, the metropolitan area continues to be the one with the highest incidence of coronaviruses with 427 confirmed cases, followed by the Bayamón region with 250 and Mayagüez with 170 cases.
