Journalist Ahmed Musa entered into a challenge with Hussein Abu Saddam, head of the Farmers Syndicate, live on air, regarding the decline in onion prices next April, reaching 5 pounds.

The journalist, Ahmed Moussa, interrupted, on the “On My Responsibility” program, on “Sada El Balad” satellite channel, on Sunday evening, saying, “No problem,” to which the head of the Farmers’ Syndicate responded, saying: “On my personal responsibility, with the continued ban on exports in addition to the large cultivated areas, onions will reach 5 pounds.” Next April.”

The head of the Farmers Syndicate said, “If this does not happen, I will submit my resignation on the air through your program.” The journalist, Ahmed Musa, responded, saying: “On April 15, we will wait for you here, Haj Hussein.”

Hussein Abu Saddam, head of the Farmers Syndicate, revealed that it is the duty of each of us to stand with the Egyptian state at this time, commenting: We do not measure our love for the homeland by the rise and fall of prices.

He continued that the price of rice fluctuates every day, and its price today is 32 pounds, and this is for the broad white variety, and this is a fair price at the present time.

He stressed that there are 1.1 million acres planted with rice in Egypt, and this means that there is self-sufficiency, but due to the events in the region, in addition to storage due to Christmas, prices are rising.

He added that most of the surrounding Arab countries eat Egyptian rice, commenting: “Export is suspended, but I don’t know how it will go to them. If someone takes a sack with him, no one will say anything to him.”
