You become a junior world champion, you take a bronze medal from the adult world championship, you also bring a medal of the same metal from the World Games in Birmingham, USA. And that is far from all that the Czech floorball representative Matěj Havlas has managed in the last few months.

The young man, who became friends with the perforated ball already in the third grade, experienced in a very short time what it’s like to be the leader of a team of his peers and also what it’s like to be a newcomer among older and significantly more experienced fighters.

No other sport impressed him more, so he is connected to floorball by a really strong bond. But even this sport, thanks to which he watched the above-mentioned World Games, is not the only content of his life. Studying takes care of that.

Like Matěj’s parents, he also chose the Faculty of Medicine. He has completed his first year and also the most dreaded exam, in which anatomy plays a major role. It is not yet clear which of the medical fields he wants to pursue in the future. But he already knows that his studies and subsequent practice will be in the first place in his life, so it is quite possible that the floorball career will have to be redirected to the side track. But he still has a long way to go to make that decision, at the moment he is mainly interested in the upcoming men’s world championship.

Matěj can “sell” skillful hands not only on the floorball court. His fingers can tame even piano keys. He took full lessons on this instrument at the ZUŠ, but nowadays moments at the piano are a relatively rare phenomenon.
