HBO Max is not coming to Belgium and the Netherlands this year – IT Pro – News

Even there you do not have all the content at your disposal, songs are blocked and you also see that certain songs can only be found on Spotify or only on Deezer, for example.
Fortunately, most of it can be found there, which makes them as good as full-fledged services.
I think that is mainly due to the rate structure; where the artist basically receives a fee for every time someone plays the song.
And a lot of people listen to the same song more often, so this revenue model works well.
But this is different with movies, because even if a certain movie is very good, you probably won’t watch it every day, maybe never again or after a few months or even a few years.
So with such a rate structure there is very little left if the user of the service still watches a few more films per month.
You also have a Netflix subscription for about 8 euros and then you can imagine that it may just be that the latest James Bond is in fact ‘sold’ to a user for € 0.25 and that also has to be done the commission from Netflix.

In short, the prices charged by streaming services are far too low to create a good wide range and that is why the offer also falls to a large extent in the ‘old junk’ class with which some small change is still being earned.
If we want a video streaming service that is as broad as Spotify is for music, then there is a very different price tag and it will become too expensive again.
And then again, the film and video industry is much more concentrated, so you always have to take into account one Warner Bros. Entertainment that likes to keep full control in its own hands, and therefore sets up its own service.
We will never get rid of this again I’m afraid, so you will always have to purchase multiple services to create a somewhat complete offer.
Oh and then we also have regional differences in terms of offer, but I’ll leave it at this for now
