Have you already purchased Control? You will have to pay again to play it on PS5 or Xbox Series X

505 Games has decided not to be generous with the owners of the excellent Control. They will have to pay again to play it on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The early-adopters are rarely the most rewarded. The publisher 505 Games once again supports this observation with the Ultimate Edition of Control – nice surprise from last summer. Unveiled in a trailer that aired on August 12, this ultra full version will allow owners of a PS4 or Xbox One to get a free upgrade to the PS5 or Xbox Series X (in digital format).

By making this opportunity exclusive to the Ultimate Edition, 505 Games is forgetting those who have acquired Control from the start, contributing to the deserved success of the game developed by Remedy. ” Free upgrade to Xbox Series X or PS5 is only available for Control Ultimate Edition », Confirms 505 Games in a Frequently Asked Questions published on its site.

505 Games is not generous

With this choice that some are sure to criticize, 505 Games does not help the transition to the next generation. It is however a wish on the part of Sony and Microsoft, which are supported by more generous publishers. Games like Cyberpunk 2077, DOOM Eternal, Marvel’s Avengers, FIFA 21, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Destiny 2 will not need to be redeemed. 505 Games ultimately assumes a similar positioning to that of Take-Two, which reserved the upgrade from NBA 2K21 to the most expensive edition.

Control Ultimate Edition is also a good excuse to launch the game on Steam, after a one-year period of exclusivity on the Epic Games Store. For 39.99 euros, this version will bring together: the main adventure, the two extensions (The Foundation and AWE), Photo mode, Expeditions and all updates deployed since the release.
