Xiaomi had caused a sensation with the futuristic Mi Mix Alpha – but the specified release date was then not met. A timely release of the cell phone with a double display is also not to be expected. Has Xiaomi miscalculated?

Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha is delayed
Had in September 2019 Xiaomi with the Mi Mix Alpha announced a very special smartphone. This should have a so-called “surround screen”, that is, a display that bulges far around the side edges of the smartphone. So much so, that there is almost a second screen on the back. Only 20 percent of the case (front and back) should not be covered by a display.
At the end of 2019 it should at least start in China – but nothing came of it. The manufacturer himself no longer specifies a specific date. Xiaomi would instead report “as soon as possible” with a release date, reports ChinaTechCitywho asked the group. The concept phone should actually be launched in December 2019 in a limited number. The price seems to have agreed on the equivalent of 2,575 euros. In Germany, however, the futuristic cell phone should not appear officially.
Xiaomi has not revealed why the Mi Mix Alpha will be released later. Mobile phones with flexible displays are still new territory, as Samsung has noticed with its Galaxy Fold. Here too had problems led to a much later release. At least in early December 2019, Xiaomi’s Mi Mix Alpha was briefly visible in the manufacturer’s online shop, even if it was not possible to actually buy the smartphone.

Apart from the special display, the Xiaomi Mi Mix Alpha should only offer the best. One of the highlights is the camera from Sony, which takes photos with up to 108. Pixel binning (“Super Pixel” according to Xiaomi) should produce more than usable results even in poor lighting conditions.
In addition to the 108 MP lens, an ultra wide angle (20 MP), a macro lens and a telephoto lens with double optical zoom are also used.

The manufacturer has to hurry up with the other hardware, otherwise the Snapdragon 855 Plus may even use a somewhat outdated processor. The successor is already in the starting blocks with the Snapdragon 865. The built-in processor should be supported by 12 GB of RAM and an internal capacity of 512 GB in the fast UFS 3.0 standard. The battery should be able to be charged with 40 watts, the output is 4,050 mAh.
