Has started cancellations of vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna

– We have started by canceling vaccines, says infection control director at FHI, Geir Bukholm, to TV 2.

Over 80 percent of all Norwegians over the age of 18 are now fully vaccinated. But now FHI believes that Norway has enough vaccine doses, so far.

– We currently have good opportunities to send out vaccine doses should a special situation arise, but we are already in the process of canceling doses from both Pfizer and Moderna because we see that we do not need more vaccines than we have right now , says the director of infection control.

Cancels expected delivery

Norway has a vaccine agreement with the EU, through Sweden, and has received good and bad news during the corona period in connection with vaccine dispensing.

In August, it was announced that Norway would receive I million extra Moderndoses from Romania. Many of these have already been distributed to the municipalities.

Those doses were in addition to the total of 358,000 doses Norway received in July from, among others, Lithuania, Bulgaria and Romania.

It is the expected deliveries from the EU that FHI has started to cancel.

Contingency stock

FHI has a transit warehouse, where the doses that come to Norway remain before they are sent on to the current municipalities. These are doses that will be used if something very special should occur in connection with the corona situation.

– How many doses do we need in the buffer?

– We probably need a few hundred thousand in buffer, but not much more than that.

– And that’s what we have now?

– We have that, says Bukholm.
