Harry Potter New York officially opened

With a one-year delay, the first Harry Potterstore, located in the heart of New York, opened its doors. The first photos do look – well – magical.

The Harry Potter experience store is almost 2000 m² in size and houses the largest collection of Harry Potter and Fantastic Beastsproducts in the world. Spanning three floors, the shop is built around fifteen different themes, which together bring the magic of the wizarding world to life.

Entering the store, customers pass under a huge model of Felix the Phoenix, which stares down from the ceiling. The impressive model weighs over 110kg and is just one of many detailed, handcrafted props designed to delight customers. In total, more than a thousand pieces of decor are displayed in the store, RetailTrends writes. This also includes authentic items used for the films.

In addition, some digital technologies have been integrated in the store. For example, visitors will be able to find ‘enchanted keys’ via the Harry Potter fan club app, which they can use to unlock videos, among other things. Two VR games can also be played: ‘Chaos at Hogwarts’ and ‘Wizards Take Flight’.

The opening should have taken place in the course of 2020, but the enormous corona outbreak in the Big Apple put a stop to that.
