While the “normal” Pan America 1250 is content with fully adjustable suspensions, the Special version is characterized by the adoption of semi-active electronic suspensions. Depending on the on-board load, the load control system detects the weight of the driver, a passenger and the luggage to automatically adjust the rear preload according to software developed by Harley. Apart from these electronic suspensions, the differences between the two versions also concern a system for monitoring the tire pressure via the dashboard display (TPMS).
