TEXAS – A Fort Worth judge sentenced a woman to 12 years in prison who tried to suffocate her baby in the middle of the hospital.
Court documents indicate that Shawna Renae pleaded guilty to a second-degree charge of attempting to injure a minor.
The report also indicated that she was detained in 2019 after cameras at Cook Children’s Medical Center captured her squeezing her 7-month-old daughter twice, which blocked her from breathing.
Gallagher, judge of the 396th District Court, handed down the sentence after a two-hour hearing, where prosecutors said they were satisfied with the result since little Lonna is now safe and healthy too.
