Hands-on Review of Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G: Features, Design, and Specifications

KOMPAS.com – Tecno launched three new mobile phones that are included in the Tecno Camon 20 series family in Indonesia. One of the models released is the Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G.

The presence of Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G in Indonesia is somewhat special. This is because this cellphone is Tecno’s first 5G cellphone as well as Tecno’s most expensive cellphone in Indonesia. In Indonesia, the Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G is priced at IDR 6 million for 8/512 GB of memory.

KompasTekno had the opportunity to hold Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G during the launch event in Jakarta, last Thursday (6/7/2023). The following is a brief hands-on review and the appearance of the Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G from all sides.

Flat body, puzzle pattern back

In terms of design, the Tecno Camon 20 Premier 5G carries a flat body frame design, aka flat frame with rounded corners.

On the back, this phone is covered in synthetic leather with a ceramic puzzle pattern to add to the beauty of the back. When held, this synthetic leather layer makes the back of the cellphone have a rough surface so that the cellphone is not prone to slipping when held.

Tecno claims that the process for making the back of this cellphone uses quite high techniques, such as polishing for 56 hours.

AMOLED screen with thin bezels

The Tecno Camon 20 Premiere 5G has a 6.67-inch AMOLED screen surrounded by fairly thin bezels. According to Tecno Mobile, the bottom bezel of the screen is only 2.3mm thick, which is thinner than its predecessor, the Camon 19 series, which had a 4.37mm bezel.

This cellphone screen supports Full HD resolution (1,080 x 2,400 pixels), a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and a touch sampling rate of up to 360 Hz. With screen specifications like this, users can scroll social media smoothly and provide a responsive screen to the touch of a finger.

The Tecno Camon 20 Premiere 5G screen also supports an in-display fingerprint scanner to make it easier to unlock the screen.

On the front screen there is a punch hole that houses a 32 MP (f/2.4) front camera with a fixed-focus feature.

On the back, the Tecno Camon 20 Premiere 5G is equipped with three main cameras embedded in an asymmetrical module. The three cameras consist of a 50 MP (f/1.8) RGBW Pro main camera with a focal length of 23 mm.

This camera is also equipped with a sensor-shift image stabilization feature, Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), adopted from DSLR cameras.

The Tecno Camon 20 Premiere 5G also has a 108 MP ultrawide camera with a 114.5 degree viewing angle using a 13mm (f/2.2) lens. The ultrawide camera also features autofocus and macro lens capabilities.

Finally, there is a 2 MP (f/2.4) depth sensor camera which is also equipped with an autofocus (AF) feature.

Then, move on to port and button placement. At the bottom of the screen, there is a USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer, a speaker grill and a SIM drawer. At the top there is only one speaker grill.

While on the right side of the body, there are volume control buttons and the power button. Then on the left a plain body without any holes or buttons.
