Just a few minutes later, police officers were in the entrance area of an office building in the Kaiserfeldgasse a person matching the description. The 25-year-old from Graz entered ferret with him, as stated by witnesses.

The police found the weapon apparently used in the backpack parked next to him. It was about one deceptively real-looking CO2 weapon. The 25-year-old had briefly supervised both the animal and the weapon for a friend in office.

Shortly thereafter, police officers also found the gun owner himself, as the 31-year-old Slovakian from Graz known to the police just left the office building. No dangerous objects were found during a search of the man.

During his interrogation at the Graz-Schmiedgasse police station, the 31-year-old finally denied firing a shot. The man did not intend any bad intentions or threats either.
