The race for recovery came too late: Bundesliga handball club MT Melsungen lost against record champions and new table leader THW Kiel in the end with 22:24 (10:17).
Northern Hessen were nine goals behind in the meantime, but then fought back again. Melsungen goalkeeper Adam Morawski played a big part in this with an impressive 20 saves. MT’s top goalscorer was captain Kai Häfner with six goals. Mykola Bilyk scored six goals for Kiel.
Four games without a win
Melsungen slipped to ninth in the standings. It is the fourth game without a win in a row for Northern Hesse.
