Rotterdam mayor Aboutaleb warns Feyenoord of new violations of the corona rules by supporters. If that happens again, he says, there will be consequences for the number of spectators that are allowed into De Kuip. In case of serious violations, he even considers not admitting fans at all.
This is stated in a letter Aboutaleb wrote to Feyenoord. Yesterday, supporters were shouting, singing and cheering at the match against FC Twente, while that is not allowed according to the corona protocol of the KNVB. According to Aboutaleb, the police and the municipality have also determined that some of the fans did not comply with the one and a half meter rule.
Aboutaleb has already obliged Feyenoord to deploy 25 extra stewards and security guards from the next home game, next Sunday against ADO Den Haag. That is in addition to the number of 380 previously agreed. “The 25 extra persons must be specifically instructed by Feyenoord to maintain the 1.5 meter distance”, reports the municipality of Rotterdam.
Stadium ban or quarantine
According to Aboutaleb, the municipality and the local security region are doing everything to promote compliance with the corona rules and he expects “the same attitude from Feyenoord”. He offers some suggestions for steps the club can take against fans who kept too little distance yesterday: imposing a stadium ban or an urgent call for quarantine.
