(pm/ea) – There will be a lot of celebrations in Hanau this weekend – with lots of music in the city and in nature. In their “Hanau macht Lust” series, the Hanau Marketing GmbH (HMG) and the Hanau Marketing Verein (HMV) as well as other actors are once again offering numerous activities to the people of Hanau and their guests.
“It’s important to us that we don’t just think about the city center with the various campaigns, but also transfer the idea of the ‘Hanau macht Lust’ campaign to the districts,” says Lord Mayor Claus Kaminsky. With the Mainuferfest in Großauheim and the “Pipe and Art” in the Drahtesel-Lounge in Klein-Auheim, the districts even played first fiddle in the city’s event concert next weekend. “Life in Hanau is colorful and varied, also and especially in the districts. We are very aware of this, which is why we support actors who make a difference locally,” adds Kaminsky.
From May 12th to 14th, the “Großauheimer Mainuferfest”, to which the Großauheimer and Wolfganger clubs and the event office of the city of Hanau invite you, should be a great one. After the successful premiere last year, the banks of the Main will once again be transformed into a colorful festival mile, with music on the mobile Sparkasse stage, dance, culinary delights and activities ensuring a varied programme. The festival officially opens at 2 p.m. on Saturday, but the evening before you can get in the mood for the festivities with the band “Soulfire” from 6 p.m. The extensive program for young and old ranges from the Sunday open-air church service to the blue light mile of the fire brigade and the DRK to a visit to the fireboat on the Main bank.
A visit to the district is also worthwhile on Saturday in Klein-Auheim, where friends of the well-groomed blue haze are offered an extraordinary event in the “Drahtesel-Lounge” at the Radwerk. Under the title “Pipe and Art”, international pipe makers, artists and designers will be presenting creations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. that will make pipe smokers’ hearts beat faster. The aim of this public fair is also to keep the traditional craft of wood turners and pipe makers alive.
A visit to Klein-Auheim is also worthwhile for families on Saturday, when there are invitations to a family rally in the “Alte Fasanerie” wildlife park. Big and especially small can playfully discover the wonders of the forest and romp about in the wildlife park. Start is at 12 o’clock.
The green department of the city’s own Hanau Infrastructure Service (HIS) has an eye on the whole city and, together with the HMG and the HMV, is launching the “Hanau is blooming” campaign for the first time on Saturday. To start things off, there will be an “open day” on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the depot at Theodor-Fontane-Straße 24. The greenhouses and technical facilities as well as the vehicle fleet can be viewed. There is also a lot of information and tips, music and culinary delights, presentations by beekeepers and the Augustinchen play mobile for the youngest visitors. In the days that follow, the experts from HIS will bring the city to “blossom” in a very practical way by placing plant pots and flower baskets on the streets and squares.
“Hanau makes music” is the motto again on Saturday, when “Petite Fleur” on Hammerstraße and the “Trio Hausham” on Rosenstraße provide entertainment. There is also music on Sunday in front of the Goldschmiedehaus, where the Mellow Tone Trio & Martin Auer play at the open-air jazz concert of the Hanau Old Town interest group.
A visit to the Neustadt town hall on Saturday should be worthwhile. An interesting information program takes place here on the occasion of the “Day of Urban Development Promotion”, which primarily provides information about Hanau projects. The municipal BAUprojekt GmbH presents various funding projects. The town hall itself, which was renovated with state subsidies, among other things, is also the focus. At 10 a.m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. there are guided tours that explain the history of the house and its current functions. A special guided tour through Hanau’s city center is offered, during which measures that have been implemented with funds from urban development funding are shown. The meeting point for this tour is at 11 a.m. in front of the town hall.
And of course the weekend is all about the opening of the Brothers Grimm Festival. The 39th season starts on Friday with the musical “Cinderella”, in the following weeks the fairy tales “Hans im Glück”, “Hase und Hedgehog” as well as the classic “Tartuffe” start.
