Hamburg – Common gangsters in a good area! The police are concerned with a brazen watch robbery. The victim: shipowner’s son Claus Oliver O.

The scene of the crime is the Eppendorfer tree. The 52-year-old parked his off-road vehicle (Range Rover) there at 5:05 p.m. on Saturday. He wanted to visit family members.

What is supposed to have happened then sounds like the script of a previous evening crime novel!

Two helmeted people on a motorcycle (Düsseldorf license plate) are said to have stopped behind the off-road vehicle, and one of them threatened the driver with a knife. Then the other perpetrator is said to have ripped the luxury wristwatch from the brand “Patek Philippe Aquanaut” (approx. 60,000 euros, source: “Hamburger Abendblatt”) through the open car window from O.’s wrist.

When the stocky 1.87 meter victim resisted, it is said to have torn off the visor from the attacker’s helmet. This is now being examined by the police for fingerprints and DNA traces.


Claus Oliver is one of two sons of shipowner Claus-Peter O. (77) and head of HR for the family company. It is one of the world’s largest container ship charter companies.

Claus Oliver O. could not be reached for BILD on Tuesday.

After BILD information, investigators are now looking for clues to video material from the Tatumfeld.

Police spokesman Holger Vehren to BILD: “This is a rather unusual robbery.”
