Hamas Leader Promises Not to Touch International Aid Funds for Gaza Recovery for even 1 cent

GAZA, KOMPAS.TVThe leader of Hamas, Yahya Sinwar, said his party would not touch the international aid fund for the restoration of Gaza even a penny.

Sinwar, which is the political wing of Hamas, on Wednesday (26/5/2021), promised transparency regarding the aid fund.

He also emphasized that he would not take sides in distributing the aid.

“We welcome international or Arab assistance to rebuild the Gaza Strip,” Sinwar said Al-Jazeera.

“I emphasize our commitment not to take a single penny of funds used for development and also for humanity. In the past, we haven’t taken a penny either,” he added.

Sinwar’s statement came just a day after US Secretary of State Antony Blinken promised his country would help rebuild Gaza, Tuesday (25/5/2021).
