Haller left West Ham with more minutes than Chicharito, but with fewer goals

Sébastien Haller left West Ham without meeting expectations and with worse numbers than Chicharito despite having more minutes

Forward Sébastien Haller is an old acquaintance of Mexican fans, being the one who replaced Javier Hernández at West Ham in 2019. After a year and a half with the Hammers, Haller said goodbye to the Premier League and could not exceed the numbers of ‘Chicharito’.

In the summer of 2019, the international attacker with the Ivory Coast National Team was chosen by the West Ham board to take the place of Hernández, who was living his last days at the club and before the closing of that transfer window was transferred to Seville.

In two years with the England squad, Chicharito, who was signed in 2017, scored 16 Premier League goals in 2,984 minutes. In his first season, Hernández scored eight goals and in his second season, he scored seven but provided three assists. It should be noted that before going to Seville, Javier scored a goal in the 2019/20 campaign.

For his part, Haller played 3,196 minutes in the Premier League and scored only 10 goals. The native of France did not live up to the expectations of West Ham fans so the board decided to transfer him to Ajax, a club in which he will coincide with the Mexican Edson Álvarez.

What Chicharito and Sébastien share is that both players suffered a considerable decline in their value during their time at West Ham. The Mexican arrived in London from Bayer Leverkusen valued at 18 million euros, according to Transfermarkt, and when he went to Seville he had a value of 12 million euros.

Haller, 26, arrived at the Hammers with a value of 40 million euros and is currently priced at 30 million.

Javier Hernández is preparing for the 2021 MLS season and through social networks he has shared with his followers the physical work he is doing to arrive in optimal conditions at the beginning of the preseason.
