half of the campsites in Brittany do not require the sanitary pass

Not all campsites will require the health pass this summer to enter their establishment. Of the 700 campsites in Brittany, half are not required to request the document. Several situations can be distinguished according to the level of equipment of the place.

Some establishments have bars, restaurants, swimming pools, theaters. “There is a distinction made between campsites according to their equipment “, explains Nicolas Dayot, the national and regional president of the Federation of outdoor hotels.

  • Campsites with a swimming pool or an auditorium require the sanitary pass to enter their enclosure, since July 21.
  • Campsites with a bar and / or restaurant will request the sanitary pass from their customers when the pass application is extended to other locations, probably from August 9.
  • Campsites without these facilities are not obliged to ask their customers for the sanitary pass.

Most holidaymakers will still need to show their health pass

The national and regional president of the Federation of outdoor hotels, Nicolas Dayot specifies: “Of the 700 campsites in Brittany, 340 have a swimming pool, 320 have a restaurant and 400 have a bar. Obviously some have these three devices at the same time, on the same site. We could say that half of the campsites without a sanitary pass represents a lot of establishments, but in practice the activity is concentrated on highly equipped places. In the end, it is estimated that 8 out of 10 holidaymakers will have to present a health pass. “

We were afraid for our vacation. It is very good that the campsite does not ask for the sanitary pass – Sébastien, a vacationer

The two-star Saint-Briac campsite, to the west of Saint-Malo, belongs to the last category. There is no swimming pool, restaurant or bar. The toilets are the only meeting place. The campsite offers 70 bare pitches for tents, camper vans and caravans, and around a hundred mobile homes. The non-obligation of the health pass is a relief for holidaymakers explains the executive assistant, Rosalie Guillaume. “Customers call us to ask us if the health pass is mandatory, when we tell them no, they cry out in relief. We understand that for some it is a decisive criterion. “

In the alleys of the campsite, most tourists are happy with the news. “We were afraid for our holidays, it is very good that the campsite does not ask for it”, says Sébastien, who came from Dieppe with his partner. He is vaccinated for his work as a specialized educator: “If I had had the choice, I would not have done it”. Julien filled his bottle of water, he did not choose this campsite by chance. “It’s part of the criteria to come here. In the end, people stay on their site, we rarely see each other and we respect barrier gestures. “
