Half of states rule out return to classes for coronavirus

Veracruz

In a message that he disseminated on social networks together with the Secretary of Education, Zenyanzen Escobar García and the Undersecretary of Basic Education, Maritza Ramírez Aguilar, stressed that before the classes were suspended, progress had already been made with 64% of the content of the school year and these days it has been possible to cover between 13 and 23% additional.

“In the morning, each undersecretary, together with the Secretary of Education, will say at each level how they will continue to advance, since we are not going to return to class for the moment,” he said.

Guanajuato

The head of the Guanajuato Ministry of Education (SEG), Yoloxóchitl Bustamante, ruled out that the school year concludes in classrooms, so that school work will continue at a distance.

In a message transmitted by social networks, he explained that they spoke with SEP authorities and it was defined that the Guanajuato students will return to the classrooms two weeks before the start of the next school year 2020-2021, whose date is yet to be defined.

“We did not return on June 1 and we still do not have all the statutes to specify what will happen. You will find out by a statement from the Governor. We did not return on June 1 … We are still going to elaborate on the details of what this means, “he said.

Baja California

The Secretary of Education in the state, Catalino Zavala Márquez, reported that on August 24 the face-to-face classes corresponding to the next school year will resume.

In a videoconference, the official explained that the conclusion of the current school year will last until July 17, meanwhile the distance classes program will continue.

He assured that before and during the return to face-to-face classes, tutorials will be provided to students who were unable to access classes online, so that they can regularize and continue their studies, said the secretary.

Zavala Márquez added that re-enrollment is guaranteed at all educational levels since the pre-tokens were delivered, and from July 6 to 17 the delivery of documents must be carried out, while on July 27 the diagnostic examination will be carried out, and the July 28-31 will publish the results.

Chihuahua

The Governor of Chihuahua, Javier Corral, announced that the current school year in the state must be completed remotely, as has been done during this stage of the health contingency.

He pointed out that keeping girls, boys, youth and teachers studying at home, contributes to the flattening of the curve and that this decline continues its orientation to levels of minimum contagion.

Corral stressed that industrial activity and classes in schools are factors that greatly increase mobility among society, so the return must be modulated to avoid possible outbreaks of COVID-19.

Durango

The governor of Durango, José Rosas Aispuro Torres, considered that there are no conditions for the return to school on June 1.

The president said in a message on Twitter that it is expected “to return to face-to-face classes once the health contingency has been overcome.”
