With a score of 93 on the PlayStation 5 and 94 on the console from Microsoft, Hades has a first. Since the launch of the latest generation of consoles in 2020, no other game has achieved such a high rating. A big achievement for the indie title, because Demon’s Souls, Microsoft Flight Simulator and Ori and the Will of the Wisps, among others, must be gathering dust. On the PC and Switch, the original platforms Hades appeared on, Hades is in a handsome fifth place on Metacritic, trailing only a handful of giants such as Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odysey.
In Hades, players take on the role of Zagreus, the son of underworld chieftain Hades, in an attempt to escape Hell. Of course this does not go without a fight and you will die more than once. With each fail, the tune starts again until you’ve hammered all encounters into your memory and saw through the hordes of enemies without mercy. Especially the extremely reactive controls, excellent dialogues and the in-depth story ensured that the audience received Hades with cheers.
