Hacker gets old web version PS Store with PS3 and Vita games working again – Gaming -. Geeks

apparently they have not (yet) addressed the front-end code, but you cannot know whether that also applies to the backend, if the underlying administration software no longer works, you can buy items, but the publisher just gets his money no longer because the outcome of this system no longer works and the payment process therefore comes to a standstill.

Both the current and previous web versions of the PlayStation Store rely on separate API endpoints to provide things like product information; purchases; display download lists; etc. The store in the PlayStation mobile app in turn talks to the web version of the Store. (Just a web view.)

The old version of the PS Store spoke the dialect of the PSP; PS3; PS4; and PSVita API. However, with the arrival of the PS5, Sony has made a new overhaul of their store APIs and the web store logically did not support them. Because PS5 products really had to go live in the store, a new revision of the web store has been rolled out that talks against this new API. Spartan, because minimal viable product against a tight deadline. Even basic things such as filtering and sorting are not included in the new web store.

PS4 games are still for sale through the new web store, thanks to the support that the PS5 API version offers to search and purchase games through PS4. Other things like PS4 themes and avatars, the new web store for example no longer supports; because they do not support the PS5 and are no longer in the data returned by the PS5 API.

That is also the reason that additional information such as screenshots and videos has been dropped from the web store. And the reason there is no longer a link between main title and available DLCs. In the data as the PS5 API version returns it, it is no longer in – or exists in another form that the developers of the web store have not connected. (Because: minimal viable product and tight deadline ..)

Everything else is PSP; PS3; and PSVita by definition removed from the web store because the PS5 API version no longer shows those products at all. Well; with the exception of cross-buy products such as Journey, which you buy simultaneously for multiple platforms. Then you could suddenly encounter PS3 or PSVita as an extra platform indicator.

However, these older consoles are still talking to the same old API in their local store application as used by the previous web store. And for that reason it works completely.
Logically, it is therefore true that if you retrieve the old HTML and JS from the old web store, it can still successfully continue to talk to those old APIs.
