Habib Bahar bin Smith submit a plea or a memorandum of defense for the demand for 5 years in prison in cases of alleged spreading of false news or hoaxes. Habib Bahar called the charges against him full of falsehood.
“I laughed at the contents of the indictment ‘for justice’ but in fact it was a lie. It is full of hypocrisy and falsehood,” said Bahar in a trial with a plea reading agenda at the Bandung District Court (PN), reported detikJabarThursday (4/8/2022).
Bahar considers what he is experiencing right now is not justice. According to him, many perpetrators of religious blasphemy have not been prosecuted. He also touched on the issue of corruption that often occurs in Indonesia.

“I believe that the five-year demand is not what they (the prosecutors) wanted. But the intervention of superiors. That’s why I said not for justice, but for injustice. Where is justice, I was arrested quickly, the witness has not been examined yet, and the witness has been detained,” he said.
Bahar admitted that he was surprised that the lecture he delivered was considered a disturbance. He alluded to officials who often speak lies, but are not prosecuted.
“Online chaos because I gave a lecture. Differing opinions on social media, is it fair? Why do many officials lie, lie, break promises, isn’t that a lie in which there is chaos, even online riots, many people are in trouble. Is this called justice ?” said Bahar in a high voice.
