Habib Bahar Indicted for Article of Violence against Online Taxi Driver

BandungHabib Bahar bin Smith was tried in connection with the case of mistreatment of an online taxi driver. Bahar was charged with assaulting an online taxi driver named Andriansyah.

This was revealed in the trial on the indictment at the Bandung District Court, Jalan LLRE Martadinata, Bandung City on Tuesday (6/4/2021). The trial took place virtually in which Habib Bahar was in Gunung Sindur prison while the prosecutor, judge and attorney Habib Bahar was at the Bandung District Court.

“The defendant openly and with collective energy used violence against people or property, if the violence used resulted in injuries,” said the West Java High Prosecutor’s Public Prosecutor (JPU) when reading the indictment.

The persecution itself took place on Tuesday, September 4 2018 at Bahar’s residence in the Bukit Cimanggu Housing Complex, Tanah Sereal District, Bogor City. This case involves Habib Bahar and someone named Wiro.

“That the defendant HB Assayid Bahar bin Smith together with brother Wiro (DPO),” said the prosecutor.

Habib Bahar’s act resulted in the victim being injured. In the trial, Habib Bahar was charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code paragraph (2) 1 on violence in the first charge and Article 351 of the Criminal Code paragraph 2 on the persecution of Jo Article 55.

Previous, Habib Bahar bin Smith again entangled in the case of alleged persecution. He was named a suspect by the West Java Regional Police for the persecution case.

Information gathered, the alleged case of persecution was reported by a person named Andriansyah in 2018 to the West Java Regional Police. Later, the General Criminal Investigation Directorate, raised the status of reported Bahar to become a suspect.
