Haaland appointed US Secretary of the Interior | Abroad

The native voice was instrumental in Biden’s election victory in the southwestern state of Arizona. The historic appointment is also of great symbolic value because the Department of the Interior is largely concerned with relations with Native American peoples, and the management of federal land and national parks.

It was not the first time that Haaland wrote history. In 2018, she was elected to Congress as one of the first two female MPs of indigenous descent.
