Gymnastics coach suspended for 8 years after verbal and emotional abuse Sport

sport">The American gymnastics federation USA Gymnastics has confirmed the long sentence. According to an independent research panel, Haney has spent years verbally and emotionally abusing gymnasts.

sport">Haney has coached Laurie Hernandez, among others, who won gold and silver at the 2016 Olympics. Until 2018, she trained Riley McCusker, who was part of the U.S. team that captured the world title in 2018.

sport">Haney, 42, had been temporarily suspended since January, pending the outcome of the investigation into the allegations. Hernandez and McCusker testified against the trainer, who would bark off her pupils and continue training while injured.
