guide, build and tips to master and counter the 150th League of Legends champion

Riot Games has welcomed its 150th champion to League of Legends, which turns 10. Veteran or newcomer, do you want to understand what type of champion you are dealing with and how to deal with or with him in play? Here are some tips for playing and taking on Yasuo’s brother.

How much time have we spent playing this game that is League of Legends? Between the pressure of the ganks, the daring strategies, the international tournaments and balancing problems champions, the game will have made us see all the colors! Although not all is well for this year’s Esport competition, Riot Games, after the overhaul of former champions, ends up revealing the appearance of the 150th character of his famous MOBA: Yone.

Yone Position and Gameplay

Yone is a midlane assassin having to charge and eliminate his opponent quickly and then return to his initial position. His crowd control abilities and shield allow him to delay the arrival of enemy damage, and his numerous offensive movement abilities give him the ability to quickly drop his opponent’s HP. Find in the video below the techniques and combos of the champion. You will then find some additional tips for playing with but also against Yone.

Overview of Yone’s skills and possible combos

Farmer with Yone in lane

You can use his Deadly Steel (Q), both to farm minions and to harass your opponent if he is a little too close. Mind Clipping (W) also gives you one or two attacks if you need to get close to a distant minion. However, be careful not to get harrassed at the start of the game by ranged champions, you would have a hard time defending yourself from them at the start.

Gameplay the Yone and team fight

As featured in the video, Yone can be played in different ways, either by playing his role of assassin looking for fragile enemies in the back, or by rushing into the heap in order to apply maximum crowd control for his team and be able to trigger combos. devastating spells.

You can also take on a role closer to that of a fighter in the middle of the melee if you are accompanied by champions such as Lulu or Yuumi for example to heal you or grant you shields, in particular if your team is leading the game.

Be careful, however, Yone will suffer very quickly if he takes spells that immobilize him or stun him himself. This will limit the damage dealt in spectral form as you only have a limited time to kill your target and will put you in particular danger in physical form as you will only be able to escape with difficulty.

Which skills to improve first with Yone

At the level of skills development. Start with Deadly Steel (A) and improve it to the maximum first. Then build the Unbound Soul skill (E), because the bonuses per level are more interesting than those of the Mind’s Cut (Z). End up improving your last skill.

Yone Recommended Equipment

The similarities between Yone’s abilities and Yasuo’s means that they can be equipped in a similar fashion. Indeed, our sword wielder must, like his brother, obtain critical strike chances very quickly to optimize his passive. Infinity Blade and Zeal (it’s up to you to see if you prefer the Statik or the Phantom Dancer depending on the situation) are therefore essential items in the Yone build. The Stormblade is also an option if you have difficulty early in the game, but it is better to replace it later with one of the two items previously seen.

For the rest, a dance of death or a thirst for blood can give you life steal while allowing you to tank damage more easily. It is also possible to take a Blade of the Fallen King instead which will help you kill champions with a lot of health, but it will reduce your chances of survival against a significant amount of damage. An item giving you HP will allow you to stay longer in combat, a sterak glove or a frozen mallet will perfectly fulfill this office. Complementing with an at the end of the line, a guardian angel, or a deadly booster may be a good choice. In terms of boots, the berserker’s leggings are really to be preferred because some of your spells have an attack speed ratio.

Tips and Advice for Playing Yone

TAll of Yone’s forward-charging abilities can be used through walls. Take the opportunity to ambush the enemies on the other routes by attacking them from places where they cannot see you, with your ultimate for example.

Be very careful with the use of your Unbound Soul (E), as you immediately become much more vulnerable without its ability to return to where you started. So avoid throwing it when you are close to your enemy, because you will not be able to escape after applying your combo. Attacking without having recovered this spell is also very risky because it is a real life insurance for your character.

Sealed Fate (R), in case it doesn’t hit any targets, teleports you to the farthest point of the spell. Otherwise, it teleports you right behind the enemy furthest from your starting point. So this makes it an effective spell for catching a target, but if an enemy hits you in melee, you won’t be able to use this ability to run away. because he could interfere and you will find yourself behind him, literally a centimeter away. So be careful with its use if you want to escape.

Currently (patch 10.16), theYone’s Unbound Soul (E) spell has the ability, if cast at the right time, to remove all control and (potentially fatal) damage that comes with it.. Indeed, the return to the physical body (reactivation of the spell) makes it possible to counter, among others, the ultimate of Mordekaiser, that of Urgot, but also the stunning of Lilia or Zoe. If either of these occurs, you now know what to do.

How to play against Yone?

A recurring question when a new champion comes out is: How to counter him? In the case of Yone, the few tips given above already offer some answers on how to fight it.

First of all, Yone is a character who, if he is to use his full potential, must have access to certain items. As a result, he is a relatively easy champion to manage at the start of the game, especially when we see that he ultimately has little means of defending himself. Indeed, if we compare him to Yasuo, he will have roughly the same damage without equipment but will in fact be less solid: Yasuo’s shield being more solid and above all, faster to recover. Yone therefore lacks effective defense early in the game. So take advantage of his initial inability to fight back to harass him continuously early enough to give you an advantage.

Ensuite, all of Yone’s gameplay is centered on his ability to be able to take cover once his burst is performed by running away with his Unbound Soul (E). As said above, it doesn’t have a defensive skill to speak of in the lane phase (Mind Cut (W) is useful but doesn’t give a lot of shielding either when it hits only one. champion). Everything therefore depends on how you will manage your opponent’s assault when activating this skill.

Two options are available to you. Make sure that Yone does not touch you or at least for the duration of his Unbound Soul (E) or, if you think you can resist this damage quite effectively, get closer to his physical body to attack him when he returns to his initial position and will probably already have used some of his spells. The goal is not necessarily to kill him here (even if we are not going to lie to each other, we do not say no to a kill), but to force him to cancel his assault in his spectral form, thus removing a good part of his damage. Obviously, the choice on which strategy to adopt here will depend on the champion you play, the Yone score compared to yours and the context of the action.

Like all assassins, Yone is very sensitive to crowd control. The ability to stun, immobilize, blind, or prevent spellcasting is a deciding factor against this champion and selecting one or more characters who have one of his abilities can go a long way in killing him. Likewise, having crowd control avoidance spells such as Olaf’s Ultimate or Morgana’s Shield will allow you to respond more quickly to Yone’s assaults. In addition, if Yone is particularly effective at eliminating fragile targets, it is very quickly overtaken by any opponent who will resist its burst. It is therefore interesting in team combat to always have a strong champion with control (support or toplaner) next to your most vulnerable allies.

Items to take against Yone

As regards the objects to be taken against him, make sure the mages have a Zohnya hourglass available in order to force him, if he uses it against you, to re-roll his Unbound Soul (E) because he will have to retreat immediately if he cannot hope to kill a target very quickly during team fights. We can also mention, for more resilient champions, the omen of Randuin to reduce critical damage, but also thegargoyle lithoplastron which has the advantage of giving both armor and magic resistance.

In fact, don’t forget that Yone’s damage is both physical and magical, which is as much an advantage as a disadvantage because for 100 points of damage that it inflicts, it will in fact make 50 of a physical nature and 50 of a magical nature. So you don’t actually need a lot of armor or a lot of magic resist, just a little of both. This is why any item that gives both armor and magic resist will prove to be a good investment.

That’s all there is to know about this new champion. Now it’s your turn to try to put this into practice to become the best (killer of) Yone. Hope to see you back in the Rift, Summoner, until then: gl hf!
