Epic Games Store makes it easier for users to request a refund for games – Gaming – News

The Epic Games Store recently received an update that makes it easier to request a refund for a game. Previously, consumers had to request a refund via a contact form, now you can do so via the payment history.

Who now wants to ask for money back for a game, can according to Epic Games to the user’s Account Settings menu, to see a list of games on the Transaction page. There the user can click on ‘Request Refund’ at the game to be recalled. First users had to according to How To Geek to the Help page, to indicate via a contact form for which game they wanted to request a refund. That old way was more cumbersome than with competitors like Steam, with the update Epic Games somewhat equalizes this.

Refund conditions have not changed with the update. Consumers may still have played a game for a maximum of 2 hours in 14 days. If the game has been played for more than 2 hours, or was purchased more than 14 days ago, users will not get their money back. By the way, players will not get their money back if they have violated the terms of service of a game. For example, gamers who have received a multiplayer ban may not be able to request a refund for that game.

Another refund change that Epic Games may have made is that users will now automatically get some of the money back if a game goes on sale soon after. Epic Games has not yet officially spoken about it, but does write game designer Joshua Boggs, among others about it on Twitter. According to Boggs, he bought a game whose price went down shortly afterwards. Then he received a message from Epic Games that Boggs would get the difference back. It is not known what conditions apply to the partial refund of the purchase price.

With the recently released update, Epic Games immediately checks which games the user owns or does not own, when the client starts. Also, the Store now has support for keyless purchases via webshops of Fanatical and Green Man Gaming, among others. Previously, consumers bought a keycode from these stores, which they had to enter via the client. Now they can link their store accounts to their Epic Games Store account so that games can be linked without using a keycode. Finally, the Store now gives users more control over client bandwidth usage and has support for more currencies.
