“GTA 6” trailer breaks record: 85 million views in just 22 hours

“GTA 6” hasn’t been released yet, but it’s already breaking a record: the trailer for the game becomes the most viewed video on YouTube in one day.

Fans of the “Grand Theft Auto” game series had to wait a decade for information about the sixth part. There is correspondingly great interest in the first trailer for “GTA 6,” which developer Rockstar Games published on Wednesday. The video even broke a record on the YouTube platform.

The trailer had 85 million views on the video portal within 22 hours – 90 million after 24 hours. The previous record holder was the YouTuber “MrBeast”, who broke the record for video views within 24 hours three times in a row with his clips in August of this year.

Music videos are excluded from the record. The most viewed clip in 24 hours is the music video for the song “Butter” by the K-pop band “BTS”. The video was viewed around 108 million times in a day.

“GTA 6” takes place in a fictional version of Miami

Fans of the “Grand Theft Auto” game series will have to be patient: developer Rockstar Games doesn’t want to release the sixth part until 2025. Nevertheless, there is already initial information about the game.

“Grand Theft Auto 6” is set to take place in a fictional version of Miami. The city called “Vice City” is already known from the fourth part, which was released for the Playstation 2 in 2002.

A multiplayer component is also expected. The German games magazine “gamestar.de” reports that game publisher Take-Two, which owns Rockstar Games, secured the domains “gtavi.com” and “gtavicecityonline.com” in August 2020.

According to the official press release from Rockstar Games, the game will be released for the current Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles.
