Group of men suspected of assault, shooting and stabbing in Southeast

A violent robbery, a shooting and a stabbing. It all happens in one night in July of last year in Zuidoost. The detectives suspect that the same group of men is involved in the different incidents. In the investigative program Bureau 020 this week images of the robbery and of several suspects.

Party

In the night of 17 to 18 July there is a party going on in restaurant African Kitchen at Wisseloord. It’s busy there. When one of the visitors goes outside, he sees that there is fighting. He starts filming and so the aggression of some of the fighting men suddenly turns on him. The men take his phone. A friend of his then approaches the men and initially manages to get the phone back.

But when that friend walks back to the party, he is attacked by the men. The first victim now in turn wants to help his friend and he also gets into a fight with the men. A fierce fight ensues.

Stabbed in the upper body

At some point, the first victim is stabbed in the upper body with a knife. His friend is shot in the leg. The suspects then run away. Both victims have to be taken to hospital for treatment. The stabbed victim in particular appears to be in bad shape, but like his friend, he survives the incident.

A few hours after the incident, a man turned himself in to the police. He indicates that he was the victim of a violent street robbery earlier that night, also on Wisseloord. He states that he has been approached by a number of men and they are said to have called him ‘gay’ first. He was then mistreated and several items were stolen from him.

Four suspects

“Research shows that the fight that the visitor to the party wanted to film in all likelihood concerns the street robbery reported later,” says Marijke Stor of the Amsterdam police. “A number of members of the same group of men are therefore suspected of having been involved in the street robbery, the shooting incident and the stabbing incident.” There are five suspects, the police are still looking for the identity of four of them. All four are estimated to be between 25 and 30 years old.

The police would like to get in touch with people who know more about the suspects or about one or more of the violent incidents.
