On Monday, Canadian singer Grimes accepted the use of her voice in songs created through artificial intelligence programs, provided that she gets half of the revenue generated by these new works.
And the 35-year-old musician indicated, in a post on Instagram, that sharing the proceeds would be equivalent to “any collaboration with an artist.”
Grimes continued, “Please feel free to use my voice… I have no legal obligations” to a third party, record label or distributor.
The position of the electronic music star came days after the publication of a fake song, by Canadian singers Drake and The Weeknd, created using an artificial intelligence program.
The song “Heart on my sleeve”, which garnered millions of streams, was removed a few days after its publication, at the request of “Universal Music Group”, which represents the Canadian singers.
Since the launch of the ChatGBT chatbot at the end of November, there has been a heated debate about the data used to create new content and respect for intellectual property. Grimes is Elon Musk’s ex-life partner and has two sons with him, one of whom is from a surrogate mother.
