Grenade finds at a flea market at an Oslo school

When the flea committee at Lysejordets school was to sort the fleas that had come in, something similar to two grenades was found in a bag.

According to operations manager in the Oslo police district Per-Ivar Iversen, the grenades are not dangerous.

– One is a practice grenade, the other we are a little more unsure of. But no one has been evacuated and the flea market continues as normal, says Iversen.

Iversen says that the grenades were picked up by the bomb squad.

– Usually it is the defense that picks up defense equipment, but because it is at a school we chose to send out the bomb squad.

The bag with the grenades was locked inside a bomb room until they were transported away.

– There is a new record for fleas this year, but we nicely say no to grenades, says Anita Seierstad Larsen in the flea committee.

Iversen says that because it is not registered who submits fleas, they do not know who delivered the somewhat unusual flea. They will also not try to find out who delivered the grenades.

– It is undesirable for private individuals to submit such, says Iversen.
