BOSTON (Reuters) – A Boston judge on Friday gave the green light for the extradition to Japan of two U.S. nationals suspected of helping Carlos Ghosn escape to Lebanon late last year.
Former Army Special Forces member Michael Taylor and his son Peter, who both reside in Massachusetts, are accused by Japan of being part of the ex-CEO’s incredible escape. Renault (PA 🙂 and Nissan (T 🙂 who was assigned to reside in Tokyo pending his trial for financial embezzlement.
Federal judge Donald Cabell rejected their request to quash the extradition procedure formally filed in early July by the Japanese authorities and referred the case to the State Department, which is responsible for the decision.
The former “Green Beret” converted into private security and his son have been detained since last May.
According to federal prosecutors, the two men have received more than $ 1.3 million from the Ghosn family in exchange for their services.
