Greek Police: There has never been a break-in at the Ministry of Internal Affairs – 2024-05-14 04:08:55

It is denied by Greek police the news that had made the rounds of the internet a few days ago regarding alleged rupture in the Ministry of Interior. As it had become known, unknown persons broke into the office of the director of the Elections Directorate of the Ministry of the Interior, located on Evangelistrias Street in the center of Athens.

It’s about the office 304 of the head of the department that is responsible and has the responsibility for conducting the elections in the country and of course the compilation of electoral rolls.

However, a little while ago the investigation by the Athens Security Sub-Directorate was completed according to which “there was never a burglary in an office of the Ministry of the Interior or a breach in computer files”.

As stated in a relevant press release by EL.AS, in order to draw the conclusion, combined pre-investigative and research data were evaluated and used, namely:

  • the exploration and examination of the site by crews of the Criminal Investigation Department,
  • the examination and analysis of digital devices,
  • the examination of employees in the Ministry.

The pre-investigative material collected was submitted to the competent Prosecutor.
