Greek coastguard rescues more than 100 migrants in the Aegean

The port police responded to the request for assistance by sending three cutters and a tugboat to help the injured ship en route from Turkey, the coast guard said.

108 people were rescued, but four were missing.

In May, the Greek authorities announced that they had in one day refused to allow some 600 migrants into its territorial waters from neighboring Turkey, the largest attempt to enter this year.

A source in the Ministry of Migration said that the flow of migration to the Greek islands in the first four months of 2022 was almost 30% higher than in the same period last year.
