The historic city of Ouidah hosted on January 9 and 10, 2024, the 1st edition of “Vodun Days”, formerly known as “Vodun Festival”. For two days, Ouidah was the international capital of the Vodun celebration. This celebration took place around four emblematic places, namely: Place Maro, the Esplanade du Fort Français, the Place du Temple des Pythons and the Sacred Forest of Kpassè.

The Beninese and foreign public were treated to dances of Vodun Hounvè, Vodun Dan, Mami, Sakpata, outings of Zangbéto and Egungun, parades in honor of the deities and open-air concerts by the sea which were punctuated by renowned Beninese and international artists.

During the Great Vodun ceremony, the college of Bokonons carried out the consultation of Tofâ 2024 on the evening of Wednesday January 10, 2024. From this consultation, it was the sign “SA AKLAN” which was announced to control the year 2024.

According to the explanations of Professor Mahougnon KAKPO, president of the Vodun Rites Committee, this sign augurs positive things for the sons and daughters of Benin and calls for making love of neighbor the basis of all success during this new year. in Benin.

It should be noted the presence at this ceremony of the President of the Republic, Mr. Patrice TALON, the Special Advisor to the Head of State, Mr. Johannès DAGNON, members of the government, deputies of the National Assembly, dignitaries of religion Vodun, representatives of different religious denominations, senior executives of the country, members of the Ouidah municipal council and many others.
