Grapes can reduce the chances of developing dementia .. study reveals

There is no doubt that grapes have many and varied benefits for human health.

A new study has found that eating grapes can reduce the chances of developing dementia. The discovery, which is part of a series of studies published in the journal Foods, was included in an extensive list of the positive effects this fruit can have on health.

Antioxidants

According to researchers from the University of Western New England, grapes are especially beneficial for those on a high-fat Western diet, as these fruits are known to be rich in (natural) chemical compounds that promote healthy gut bacteria and lower the cholesterol.

Grapes are also rich in antioxidants, which are known to improve health and prevent disease and cancer.

Antioxidants protect cells from damage caused by free radicals both inside the body – infections, for example – and outside the body, such as pollution, UV rays or cigarette smoke.

Diseases of the liver

Now, the team of researchers has found that the antioxidants in grapes can protect the brain from developing dementia by improving the function of neurons, or neurons.

A second study by researchers revealed that eating grapes can reduce the risk of developing fatty liver – a condition caused by the accumulation of excess fat in the liver – and increase life expectancy by another five years.

Interestingly, due to unhealthy eating habits, this condition is a growing health problem around the world. Although it is rarely fatal, it can lead to liver failure or liver cancer if left untreated.

The team’s third study found that grapes also burn calories as they are digested, which in turn helps boost metabolism.
